Introducing
the New Committee
|
These
are exciting times and the combined Committee would
like to welcome you all to the new Club. A great deal
of work has been going on behind the scenes to be ready
for our first Winter Series.
The Committee has decided how we will work together
in our first year until our first AGM when we hope Members
will vote us in! Below are some short biographies to
introduce our new committee to you……
The club is always looking for willing
volunteers to join the committee - no experience just
a good sense of humour required, so
please do get in touch if you're able to help out.

| Kim
Ratcliffe, Chairman |
| |
|
Previously
Chairman for EDRC, Kim was formerly a City banker but
left the rat race to take up coaching (both equestrian
and human) full time. Kim is List 1 dressage judge and
BD pyramid trainer and enjoys occasional stints commentating
at Hickstead and at the National championships. Farmer,
Kim's 34 year old horse is known as the Yellow Peril
(although he's chestnut) and is now very happily retired
and enjoying the easy life. However she has been competing
the Kember's Irish ex-event horse Late O'Leary (Funghi
to his friends) with some success over the last two
years and has competed at the Winter Championships at
Hartpury, various regional & area finals & represented
the club at Elementary & Medium level at the finals
Lincoln & at music at Addington.
Kim embarked on two new hobbies since leaving banking
scuba diving and singing -although a foray into jive
dancing had to stop when she re-damaged her knee!

| Heather
Lonsdale, Vice Chairman |
| |
|
Heather
has been Chairman of EFDG since 1991, with the exception
of a three year break when she moved out of the area
- although dedicated Heather remained on the committee.
Heather also competes her horse Onassis
at Medium/Advanced Medium Affiliated Level, though many
people will remember Heather with her charasmatic grey,
Tom (RIP). As a teenager Heather inadvertently caught
the dressage bug when she decided to school her horse,
Apollo, in the hope that it would help his show jumping
and became hooked from there.
Married to Mike, Heather also works as
a Business Manager in an Engineering Company based in
Harlow, Essex.
|
| Laura
Vandervleit, Winter League Secretary |
| |
|
A
long standing supporter of the club, Laura has been
on the committee of EFDG for approximately 12 years,
10 of which she has held the position of Show Secretary.
Laura has two horses, Burywood Briar now
aged 22 years and only retired from competition last
May, with whom she competed up to Medium Affiliated
and her homebred Burywood Chess, out of Burywood Briar.
Chess is now 6 years old and is currently competing
at affiliated novice.
Laura is a freelance hairdresser, happily
married to long suffering husband Chris and mother to
two dogs!
|
| Avril
de Solla, Treasurer |
| |
|
Previously
Treasurer for EDRC, Avril pays all the bills and expenses,
keeps the books up to date, completes a monthly bank
reconciliation and an annual trial balance for submission
to the auditors. Her "day job" is a civil
servant, working for the Inland Revenue where she has
worked since leaving school. She has a New Forest mare
on whom she competes at Preliminary/Novice level, working
Elementary at home, and whom she also shows in ridden
Mountain and Moorland classes. Avril is also a List
6
judge.
|
| Lesley
Harrison, Points & Trophies |
| |
|
Previously
Treasurer for EFDG, Lesley continues to look after the
EFDG accounts. Lesley has been a member of the club
for approximately three years, but doesn't regularly
compete as her horse Alfie has issues with his back
and spavins and according to Lesley "usually manages
to throw a sickie if he hears about any events which
he might be entered for"!
Lesley's works as a bookkeeper/office administrator
for various companies ranging from architects to a small
charity.
|
| Naomi
Kember, Clinics |
| |
|
A
latecomer to riding and horse ownership when she and
husband Malcolm decided their four children were having
too much fun on horses without them, Naomi and Malcom
are now proud owners of Carlsberg and Kim's comeback
mount Fungi. Carlsberg will be making his Freestyle
debut this season and Fungi is looking forward to taking
Kim to Music Semis at Patchetts and Area Festival Champs
at Hartpury next year.
Naomi and Malcom's sons, Tim and Alastair
are also members of EDRC and provide fun time for the
horses taking them to the gallops, jumping and on faster
hacks as well as being available to compete.
Naomi is always happy to receive suggestions for future
clinics and feedback about
previous ones. |
| Lisa
Perez, PR / Marketing |
| |
|
Working
with Katie Dartnell and Marina Harley to promote the
club, website and show wrtie ups, Lisa has a full schedule
as she is currently studying for a masters degree in
psychology.
Lisa has been taken under the wing of
the riders at Burywood livery where she shared and now
owns her first horse, Breeze, who was backed at the
yard as a 3 year old and is now a 20 year old veteran
who acts like a youngster, teaching her owner how to
develop a good seat and that patience can go a long
way

| Rachel
Kellett , Newsletter |
| |
|
Originally
from Yorkshire, Rachel has lived in Epping for more
than 12 years now and is just about ready to call it
home. She is on horse number four, Romeo (Ro), an overgrown
Welsh Section D that she has owned since he was 3. Ro
gets to be special as he is the first horse she has
bought herself. Ro would like to be a jumping horse
really, but he competes prelim and novice dressage and
is working towards affiliated novice at end of 2010.
